As a group, we collected a total of 15 boys and 15 girls results. This was deliberate so we could have fair. equal results from both genders.
Would you read a college magazine?
Our group discovered that only 27% of people would read a college magazine if one was produced. This is not great to have as a result as it means that our magazine would have to be targeted towards a small amount of people.
How often would you want the magazine released?
The answers to this question were very one-sided, with 80% of 30 people preferring it to be released monthly, this is a good sign that making it weekly should not be an option.
If monthly, how much would you be willing to pay?
We found that if the magazine was released monthly, 60% of people would be willing to pay £1.50, 27% would be wiling to pay £2 and only 13% would pay £2.50, this should tell us to not release the magazine at anything over £2 as it would not sell much.
If weekly, how much would you be willing to pay?
We found if the magazine was sold each week, 67% of people would pay 50p for it, 27% of people would pay £1 and 6% of people would pay £1.50 for it. This tells us to release it at a cheap price if it was made weekly.
Would you be interested in contributing?
Our results showed that only 20% of people would actually be interested in contributing, and 80% would not want to, this is something to consider as we would need a lot more people contributing into the magazine
What content would you like to see?
We found a very even spread between all of our answers, each person had to pick 4 of the following options, I will also put what % of people picked each option:
Music and music related material - 16%
What's on in the area - 17%
Sports- 11%
Celebrity gossip- 11%
University information - 17%
Film releases - 11%
Information about jobs/apprenticeships - 17%
Would freebies/discounts/special offers encourage you to buy the magazine?
93% of 30 people said yes to this question, this is something that we should definitely put into our magazine as such a large percentage of people would be more inclined to buy it.
Would an online version encourage you to read it?
Our questionnaire found that 80% of people would be more inclined to read the magazine if there was an online version of it. We should use these figures and try to set up an online version along with a paper copy.
Would you like email updates?
The questionnaire showed that many people would not want to receive email updates as they found them very annoying, it is not something to consider with a target audience of college students, so many people do not check their emails and it would not be worthwhile to make one, as hardly anyone would read it.
What pictures would you like to see?
We found another even spread between options, apart from one which stands out to all of the others, with 25% of people wanting them to be in the magazine:
Nature - 15%
People and Students - 17%
Bands and celebrities - 25%
Students work - 11%
Technology - 17%
Relatable adverts - 15%
What colours would encourage you to read the magazine?
This was our final question, and there was definitely one stand out answer of which colour scheme we should use:
Black and White - 20%
Red and Blue - 7%
Darker colours - 13%
Brighter colours - 53%
Pink and Purple - 7%
The magazine should include much brighter colours according to our questionnaire participants, which is very helpful evidence, we know now what our target audience wants.
